friday: july 11th
of all days to take a LONG nap, davey chose yesterday…. when all i wanted to do was get out of the house to meet sweet baby jorja! i am, however, VERY thankful that he took a long nap (almost 3 hours). AND i’m VERY THANKFUL that he slept through the night on wednesday night. yes. i put him in his crib around 8:15 p.m. and didn’t need to go in there again until 6:15 a.m. i am grateful for antibiotics…. because i got a little over 7 hours of sleep without any interruptions. ahhhhhhhh. but, as usual, i’m straying off topic.
around 1 o’clock we made our way over to grandpa & grandma’s house. we rode into bellingham with them (they wanted to meet jorja, as well), and after a small errand and then the need to stop at target for some baby girl goodies, we were on our way to the hospital to meet jorja dyck. we arrived around 3 (dave met us there) and took turns going in to meet jorja (kids under the age of 12 can only go into the rooms with newborns if they are the siblings of the newborn).
as dave and i walked down the hallway to their room (they were WAAAAAAAY down there), we crossed paths with a woman in the midst of painful labor. she was out in the hallway taking the smallest of baby shuffle steps… i could READ THE PAIN AND DISCOMFORT on her face… and i was quickly TERRIFIED of looking like that in 4 short months. and then we arrived at tim & carrilee’s room and my mindset changed instantly….
dave and i got to meet jorja about an hour before the family was planning to head home. but the timing was great. jorja was awake. and talking. and she is so sweet. she has blonde hair. and dark blue eyes. and she is a beautiful baby. an absolute doll.
and now, i am reminded that the pain and discomfort of childbirth is all worth it. the tiny life. precious, sweet, adorable, tender, helpless… and the joy of knowing that i’m going to have a little girl to hold in 4 short months… what a joy. what a privilege. and i am excited.
i love you, sweet baby jorja!
