stats

 wednesday: january 16th

so davey is upstairs napping… he was not a fan of his vaccination shots today (who can blame him) but he did really well with limited crying.

he weighed in at 15 pounds 14.5 ounces and measured almost 25 inches long! that puts him in the 10th percentile for height and weight (and he’s heavier than he is long… i’ve got a chubby kid!). and he’s in the 25th percentile for his head circumference…. big head means big brain, right?!

so overall, even though davey is still on the small side for his age, everyone (the doctor, the nurses, my friends and family) continue to encourage me by telling me that davey is obviously well loved and nurtured b/c he is growing, healthy and happy.

  1. Markus hung out in the 10th percentile until he was 18 months old, then shot up to the 50th. No biggie. Shots are no fun- for baby or for mama!

  2. Sounds like Davey’s doing great! Hard to believe with that tummy and those cheeks of his that he’s 10th percentile. BTW – Cami and Sean were only 19 lbs. at a year, barely on the charts, and they are both quite normal. Nate, on the other hand was 19 lbs (at least) at 6 months. Yeah, and we know how THAT is turning out! Keep up the good work.

  3. Don’t worry about being in the 10th percentile. Samuel was in the 95th percentile at 2 months (weighing 14 pounds) and was down to the 20th percentile by his first birthday (weighing 20 pounds). He gained 6 pounds the first 2 months of his life and then gained 6 more over the next 10 months. I was nervous at different points, but realized he was healthy and happy and God determined his growth chart, not me. So, just keep doing what you’re doing. Davey is clearly lacking for nothing!

  4. Eliana was in the 5th percentile for weight at her 6 month checkup, so Davey is doing very well! Low numbers sometimes sound scary as a new mom, but everyone assured me that it meant nothing, as long as she was developmentally strong. And I know that Davey is, so just enjoy the fact that you don’t have to lug around a 25 pounder yet!! His weight will even out soon enough. By a year Ellie was in the 50th percentile for weight (up from 5th at 6 mo!) and 92nd percentile (up from 35th) for height!! A lot can change in 6 months!!
